Captain America: The First Avenger has a few missteps in story structure and execution, but they do not take away from the film's overall enjoyment and successful translation. Director Joe Johnston has given us a film that is full of heart and hope, a fun, action-packed superhero movie that dabbles in the dramatic and emotional side of things while maintaining it's lighthearted nature throughout.

I felt the romance between Cap and Peggy was very rushed, which I suppose was inevitable after getting them through a like/love/hate/love cycle without dedicating an entire scene to developing the relationship. That plus a couple more minor issues makes this far from a masterpiece, but it was nice seeing Cap on screen, and the film was, with its flaws, still a solid movie with tons of superheroic feats.
I was hoping I'd like it more than Thor, 'cause I've always really liked Cap's comics, but I think it comes up short against the Asgardian prince. What it did manage to do was make me most excited to see Cap in the Avengers; the character they've established with this film is great.

Captain America is a good movie. It's not Marvel's best but its near the second best. Chris Evans was great as Captain America. The action scenes are great. One gripe I have is how underwritten The Red Skull was. Hugo Weaving is good but the writing of the character action is not great. He was nothing but a villain in his lab running away from Captain America when he gets near. They never really have this villain do anything that would make him a great foe for Cap. There is just talks about what he can do instead of actually showing it. The supporting cast is great with Tommy Lee Jones, Hayley Atwell, and Stanley Tucci. All and all this is one of the better Superhero movies with X-Men: First Class to release this year.

Captain America was so goddamn GOOD! Loved it! I absolutely loved the chemistry between Evans and Tucci. Most of their scenes together were heartfelt and some brought tears to my eyes. In my opinion, Hayley Atwell did a great job playing a strong woman that it broke my heart in her last scene of the film with Evans. Wasn't a fan of Red Skull. He was a very meh and cliche villain. Overall, this was a fun flick.

Not bad, not great, just kind of...was. The acting was pretty good considering a lot of the cheesy dialogue the actors had to deliver. And the pacing of the movie was strange, it just sort of ended. But overall the movie was entertaining even though it followed the exact formula that the other Marvel movies follow. So to sum it up, entertaining yet underwhelming.

Very solid - nothing more.
