Pietro Filipponi's picture

The only film this year that I can truly call a cinematic experience (be it good or bad), Cloud Atlas contains six stories that, on their own are quite engaging, lose their emotional depth and appeal when spastically spliced together. Kudos to Jim Sturgess and Jim Broadbent for delivering great performances -- possibly the best of both their careers, but even they couldn't help this movie from reveling in it's long winded incoherence. It's a three hour pseudo-intellectual, self indulgent vanity project, but at least it's pretty to look at.
