Sequels and Spin-Off movies have garnered a lot of buzz over the last two days for their respective director’s chairs. Find out who is confirmed and who is currently in talks for Wolverine 2, Clash of the Titans 2 and Deadpool.
X-Men: Wolverine 2 is down to David Slade (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) and Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) for the job, according to Deadline. Both directors have recently met with Hugh Jackman, who is one of the key decision makers on this. At one point Robert Schwentke (Red) was in the running as well but is now said to be looking at Robert Ludlum's The Osterman Weekend and Universal's Ryan Reynolds-starrer RIPD as possible next pictures.
Clash of the Titans 2 seems to have found their director now. Both Deadline and Heat Vision are reporting that Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles) has signed a deal to direct the sequel. Even though the first Clash did well financially, almost $500 million worldwide, the movie received a lot of negative criticism.
The studio will be shooting it in 3D as opposed to have it added during postproduction, as with the first movie. They are also putting some of their top writers on the movie. Dan Mazeau and David Leslie Johnson will be doing the script with Greg Berlanti assisting them in the treatment.
Lastly, a small update on Deadpool. Deadline asked Robert Rodriguez about his involvement in the Wolverine spin-off:
"They are trying to make a certain small window that's going to be tough because of Spy Kids. If they push it back, it would be a lot better for me."
Rodriguez is gearing up to do a fourth Spy Kids movie.
