UPDATE: It appears this rumor doesn't have any legs to it. MTV contacted Gemma Arterton's publicist, who stated: "There's no truth to that."
Ridley Scott has reportedly requested a meeting with Gemma Arterton (Tamara Drewe, Clash of the Titans) to star in the Alien prequels. The as yet untitled prequels will focus more on the origin of the aliens themselves and is set 30 years before the timeline of the original movie.
The star told The Times that Scott was very impressed after seeing her performance in J Blakeson's thriller The Disappearance Of Alice Creed. Scott is looking to make a very dark and gritty prequel to the popular franchise.
Arterton also revealed that she has upcoming roles in The Keys To The Street, a Ruth Rendell novel that will be adapted by director Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception) along with a "cowboy film" In With The Outlaws to be directed by Richard E. Grant.
