DEXTER Star Finally Talks about Cancer Scare

Michael C. Hall, star of Dexter, which makes it's return to Showtime this Sunday has been quiet on his Cancer scare but finally opened up to talk briefly about the incident which could have taken his life.

Hall turned 39 in February of this year and mentioned that he was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma last January. His father had passed away from prostate cancer at age 39.

"I think I’ve been preoccupied since I was 11, and my father died, with the idea of the age 39: Would I live that long? What would that be like?"
"To discover that I had the Hodgkin’s was alarming, but at the same time I felt kind of bemused, like: Wow. Huh. How interesting,” said Hall.
He had received the diagnosis halfway through shooting the fourth season of Dexter but decided to wait and tell the cast and crew until production was finished. Hall's wife and Dexter co-star, Jennifer Carpenter (who plays his sister on the series) spoke on the incident and revealed it was devastating to hear her husband's grim news and although she cried at first, she eventually took her husband's positive energy and ran with it.
"The triumph of a man, to have gone through something like that and not even give the crew any suspicions that he was in any sort of need. it’s impressive," said Carpenter.
Dexter Season Five, premieres Sunday, September 26 only on Showtime.
