Chris Nolan Still Waiting for Warner Bros to Green-light Next BATMAN Movie

During a recent interview, the Inception and Dark Knight director confirms his script work for the next installment of the Batman film franchise but says the studio hasn't officially greenlit the project.

Speculation is the name of the Batman 3 game. The only official word to come from anyone closely related to the project has been Warner Bros' announcement of a July 20th, 2012 release date for the still untitled film and early scripting being done by director Christopher Nolan (along with his brother). Nolan, who also helmed the last two Batman movies, continues to remain tight-lipped about his progress on both the script and his plans for the story. In a recent interview with Variety, while discussing his plans for an Inception video game, Nolan once again confirmed he is working on the film's script. The most surprising news was Nolan's revelation that Warner Bros hasn't officially given him word that Batman 3 is a "go" film:

'Nolan confirmed he is currently working on the script for Batman 3, which Warned Bros. has announced a release date for, though the studio has not yet officially greenlit the pic.

'“They haven’t told me they don’t want to do it, so I’m hopeful,” he explained.'

Strangely enough, it appears the powers that be (more than likely the studio) asked Variety to remove the excerpt from their news piece. It appeared to be too late, since many eagle-eyed Batman fans and websites had picked up on the statement before the axe came down.

It is safe to assume that Warner Bros will undoubtedly follow through with another of Nolan's Bat-films; considering the latest in the franchise grossed over $1 billion internationally. Which leaves two options: there is a mis-communication between the studio and their director, or Nolan is continuing to play his elusive "I know nothing" role.

Nolan is an old school guy when it comes to creative control. If he could do things without studio intervention a la George Lucas, he would.

Although I am a big fan of the Batman films by Chris Nolan, I can barely remember the Batman while I do not see more images and the first trailer for Green Lantern. Mr Green

I hear WB and Nolan are having a disagreement with Batman 3 and his involvement with Superman. WB wants to have The Joker in Batman 3 and Nolan thinks that will disrespectful to the late Heath Ledger and Warners really really wanted Superman and Batman to share the same movie universe to do Worlds Finest and Justice League and Nolan doesn't want Batman and Superman to share the same screen.
