In an update from yesterday's report, a news agency claims the Easy A starlet will imminently be offered the role of red-haired vixen MJ by Sony Pictures.
Yesterday, Deadline Hollywood reported the addition of two new actresses, Dianna Agron (Glee) and Georgina Haig, (Wasted on the Young), have been added to the search for characters Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb's Spider-Man 3D reboot. These two join the ranks of Emma Stone, Mia Wasikowska and Dominique McElligott; who were the first three Sony was considering for the roles.
In a recently published update, Deadline states that the search for Mary Jane is apparently over:
Sony Pictures Entertainment will imminently offer the role of Mary Jane Watson to Emma Stone, who starred for the studio in Zombieland and Easy A.
That leaves the four other actresses mentioned yesterday (with the possibility they could widen the search) for the role of Gwen Stacy. Those contenders are Glee's Dianna Agron, Mia Wasikowska, Georgina Haig and Dominique McElligott.
BAFTA Award winning actor Andrew Garfield will be swinging into theaters as the new Spider-Man in the Marc Webb directed reboot, which is scheduled for 3D theatrical release July 3rd, 2012.
