THEY LIVE Remake to Drop Sunglasses Aspect?

The 1988 classic Sci-Fi John Carpenter classic They live is being remade and it looks like they won't be using sunglasses to see the alien enemies.
Producer Eric Newman commented on the remake at New York Comic Con and said they aren't sure they'll stick with the sunglasses for the new take on the film. In the original, our hero, played by Rowdy Roddy Piper begins to see aliens after he puts on a mysterious pair of sunglasses. What seems like ordinary people one second, after putting on the sunglasses, he can see their true hideous form.
When asked if they'll feature sunglasses for the remake, Newman said:
"We’re discussing that. I’d like to say that really, a vagrant wandering around the streets could get you to try on his sunglasses, if he would leave you alone afterwards. He may even pay you $100, “Hey put these on.” So we’re kind of exploring different versions of what is that thing that allows you to see. But I’m not going to tell you what it is. It might be something different than sunglasses," he said.
The news is kind of disappointing for fans of the original cult classic, but plans for the remake aren't going forward until at the very least, next summer. Writer D.B. Weiss is currently working on the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones.
