Marc Webb Narrowing Down List for J. Jonah Jameson in SPIDER-MAN 3D

Director Marc Webb is still finishing the casting process before heading into full production on the Spider-Man reboot. One of the most challenging characters to cast will be that of J. Jonah Jameson.
Most fans and critics agree that J.K Simmons’ portrayal of Jameson in the first three Spider-Man movies was inspired. Filling those shoes will be a daunting task. Supposedly, around twelve or so actors have been considered so far but only two have been named as a possibility to play the cigar chomping editor of The Daily Bugle.
First is that of Sam Elliott who has been in two other Marvel films, Hulk and Ghost Rider. Both of those roles were through other studios. The second name also has Marvel ties. It is that of John Slattery (Mad Men) who played Howard Stark in Iron Man 2.
No word on who any of the other actors may be. Sometimes a list of actors is nothing more than that, a list. Studios and directors make a list of potential actors and begin to whittle it down from there. Being on a list doesn't necessarily mean the studio will even contact a certain actor or actress. A decision should be made in the next few weeks as Sony and Webb go through the casting process. The film is being offered to agents under the title: “Untitled Teen Action Adventure Movie”.
