Andrew Garfield Rumored to Face Down a Lizard Army in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN

The latest speculation to come from the set of the rebooted franchise pegs the web-slinger against not only Dr. Curt Connors as the reptilian antagonist, but a whole band of mutated people.

The Amazing Spider-Man stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen and Denis Leary. It is currently scheduled to hit 3D theaters July 3rd, 2012. It has long been rumored that Ifans' character, Dr. Curt Connors, will be the main baddie of the film; or rather, his alter ego The Lizard. Iffran Khan is also playing a villain in the film, though he has stated that he will not be donning any makeup or prosthesis for a creature transformation; which lends to the belief he will act behind the scenes to cause Spidey turmoil.

The BigFanBoy blog claims to have insider information regarding yet another villainous plot for the film:

"One of the primary important crew members (who shall remain nameless) recently let it slip to one of our readers (a trusted one at that) that many of the stunt actors in the film have been spending time in heavy make-up for hours on end because of a fight scene in the film where they’re turning all the S.W.A.T. team guys into reptilian creatures… which I’d assume is some nefarious work of The Lizard."

This storyline of either The Lizard or one of his accomplices turning bystanders into mutants is not unusual to the Spider-Man mythology; it's been used in both the comics storyline and two of the animated series. Whether this piece of intel is accurate to the new film has yet to be seen, but it isn't a far fetched assumption.

Very interesting concept.... sounds a bit more inspired by the recent 'SHED' storyline in Amazing Spider-Man, where the Lizard gains the ability to 'infect' others by activating the reptilian part of their brains. And here, it sounds like he can even turn others into ....other lizards. *lol*

I TRULY LAUGHED OUT LOUD at the inclusion of the pic of the Sleestaks in this article. That made my morning; kudos to whoever came up with that! Laughing out loud
