Gary Oldman Says THE DARK KNIGHT RISES May be Chris Nolan's Best Batman Film

Oldman, who began the film franchise as Sergent Jim Gordan but currently holds the position of Police Commissioner, recently shared his thoughts about the direction of Chris Nolan's third Batman film.

Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway make up the main cast of the highly anticipated sequel The Dark Knight Rises. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. Christopher Nolan will direct the film from a screenplay he wrote with Jonathan Nolan, from a story by himself and David S. Goyer.

Aside from the recent rumored additions to the cast -- Joseph Gordon-Leviit and Marion Cotilard -- very little reliable news about the film has surfaced. One of it's stars, Gary Oldman, did however offer his thoughts about the project while on a recent press tour for his upcoming fantasy-drama Red Riding Hood:

"I have not read the script, but I have spoken to Chris Nolan about the story. I think it's fantastic. You think... you can't top The Dark Knight, but I think he may have."

Oldman went of to say that he will join the rest of the cast this May to commence principal photography. The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for theatrical release on July 20th, 2012.
