THOR Screenwriter Don Payne Set to Pen Upcoming Sequel

Hot on the heels of the news that director Kenneth Branagh won't return for the Marvel Studios sequel, a returning screenwriter has come on board to begin work in anticipation for the follow-up's July 2013 release.

Screenwriter Don Payne, known for his work on the critical disaster Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer as well as the superhero themed romantic comedy My Super Ex-Girlfriend, will be penning the script for Thor 2. Payne has also written a ton of episodes for the longest running TV series of all time - The Simpsons.

Chris Hemsworth is set to reprise his role as the Mighty Avenger, but there's no word yet whether other members of the first Thor film's cast, including Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Stellan Sarsgard, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg and Ray Stevenson, will be returning for Thor 2 which is now scheduled for theatrical release on July 28th, 2013.

Don't you miss the days when Marvel Studios would go for quality (e.g. RDJ, Edward Norton, Terrance Howard) instead of just being cheep (Joss Whendon, Mark Ruffalo, Mickey Rourke offered of $250K for IM2).
