Rumors have been swirling for a very long time regarding a film continuation of Fox's hit television series 24. Now it appears a script has been all but nailed down and a time table set for shooting to begin.
Fox scored a smash hit on the small screen with the series 24, which stared Keifer Sutherland as Counter Terrorism Unit operative Jack Bauer. With a spectacular cast and unusual set up, the show pulled in viewers episode after episode. As early as season six, rumors and demands for a feature film based on the show swirled; and after years of speculation and hesitation it appears they are coming to fruition.
Screenwriter Mark Bomback (Race to Witch Mountain and Live Free or Die Hard) has taken the task of touching up a screenplay penned by Billy Ray (The Hunger Games). It appears Bomback should have the completed script turned in by the end of the year which would allow for shooting could begin as early as next Spring. 20th Century Fox is reportedly eyeing five directors for the project though no offers have yet to be extended. Series star Keifer Sutherland will be reprising his role as protagonist Jack Bauer.
