HUNG Star Stephen Amell to Play GREEN ARROW in Upcoming TV Pilot

The TV vet has landed the role of Oliver Queen in the upcoming pilot for the CW network being penned by Green Lantern movie scribes Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim.
The impending pilot is titled Arrow, and based on DC Comics' emerald archer who dresses like Robin Hood and utilizes trick arrows with various special functions to deal out vigilante justice that conforms with his left-wing, ultra-democratic principles. Green Lantern movie screenwriters Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim are on board as executive producers/writers for the planned series. Berlanti and his production company are also behind two of the aforementioned DC TV properties currently being developed. In 2006, Justin Hartley began portraying the character on Smallville and eventually starred in over 70 episodes.
31 year old Canadian actor Stephen Amell has now been revealed to have landed the title role in the pilot. His most current work was on the HBO series Hung opposite Thomas Jane. Previously he played recurring characters in The Vampire Diaries and 90210. Last week, character description for the pilot were revealed; here is the excerpt for the title role:
OLIVER QUEEN - A 27 year old reformed bad boy, who after having spent five years shipwrecked on a tiny, brutally dangerous island in the South China Sea returns to town a different man. Or to be more specific, a tortured, thoughtful master of the bow with a ferocious determination to make a difference.
