MACHETE KILLS Promo Art Featuring Danny Trejo Debuts

The sequel to director Robert Rodriguez's planned B-movie trilogy, of which the final installment will be called Machete Kills Again, is prepping for production to start this April.

Machete cost $10.5 million and garnered a respectable $44 million return at the worldwide box office, even though it didn't sit well with many critics. The upcoming sequel will be financed by AR Films' Alexander Rodnyansky in partnership with international distributor Aldamisa Entertainment, who will handle the overseas market. The new film will find the titular character played by Trejo recruited by the U.S. government to take on a Mexican drug cartel with an army and an eccentric arms dealer with a space-based weapon with which he will rage war across the globe. Dismemberment, evisceration, death, and more await all those who come between the antihero and his mission.

Robert Rodriguez will return to direct and produce Machete Kills alongside Quick Draw productions and Alexander Rodnyansky. Kyle Ward has written the script which has been retooled by the director and his brother Marcel Rodriguez.
