GORILLAZ & BLUR are Finished According to Singer Damon Albarn

The frontman has revealed that Blur's London's Hyde Park concert is likely the band's final gig and that his rift with Gorillaz collaborator Jamie Hewlett has caused Gorillaz to likely wrap it up as well.

Damon Albarn has confirmed that both of his two most famous music projects are most likely over, with the final recording for his seminal band Blur being the 'Under the Westway' single. When asked if there will be more Blur concerts after the London's Hyde Park show, Albarn replied, "No, not really. I hope that's the truth and that that's how we end it," he said. "It's fine when we play live – it's really magical still – but actually recording new stuff, and swapping musical influences, it's quite difficult."

In regards to Gorillaz it appears the much regarded band is also finished. Much of the rift comes during support of the group's 2009 album 'Plastic Beach', where Albarn was upset over artist and member Jamie Hewlett's lack of effort in regards to producing art for the record and tour. "The music and the videos weren't working as well together, but I felt we'd made a really good record, and I was into it. So we went and played it," he said.

"Jamie (thinks Gorillaz is finished), which is fair enough. I think we were at cross purposes somewhat on that last record, which is a shame."
