Anthony Hopkins Joins the Cast of RED 2; Teaser Poster Debuts

A recent reports pegs the Thor and Hitchcock star as Summit Entertainment's latest choice to join the upcoming action film sequel which stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich & Helen Mirren

RED 2 is currently scheduled for theatrical release on August 2nd, 2013. Dean Parisot, who helmed the 1999 Star Trek parody Galaxy Quest and more recently 2005's Fun With Dick and Jane starring Jim Carrey, has been tapped to direction the film off a screenplay by Battleship writers Jon and Erich Hoeber.

RED 2 will act as a direct follow up to the hit 2010 comic book adapted action film that featured Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren as over-the-hill special ops agents forced out of retirement Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byun-Hun Lee have also joined the cast of the sequel. Hopkins' role will be that of a genius scientist who was locked up in an insane asylum.
