THOR 2 Signs Mads Mikkelsen to Play Villainous Role Alongside Tom Hiddleston

The Casino Royale and Three Musketeers star is the latest addition to the cast of the sequel to the popular 2011 comic book based film starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston.

Alan Taylor, known for his acclaimed work directing popular HBO series Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos, Sex and the City, and Six Feet Under, is on board to direct Thor 2 which is currently scheduled for theatrical release November 15, 2013. Saving Private Ryan and The Patriot screenwriter Robert Rodat was recently hired to perform a rewrite of Don Payne's shooting script.


Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Josh Dallas and Ray Stevenson are among the returning cast from the first film. The newest addition to the cast is Mads Mikkelsen, who was recently seen on screen in Wrath of the Titans and will play a yet to be revealed villain in Thor 2.

In addition to Thor 2, Marvel Studios is currently scheduled to release Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013 and Captain America 2 the following year. Other yet to be officially announced live-action Marvel projects for film and television are also said to be in the works. The studios' latest cinematic venture, The Avengers, has been continuously breaking box office since it's theatrical release earlier this month.
