New Still Released from LES MISERABLES Featuring Hugh Jackman

The upcoming adaptation from Universal Pictures is directed by Oscar winning director Tom Hooper (The King's Speech) and scheduled for theatrical release on December 7th, 2012.
Les Misérables is the motion-picture adaptation of the beloved global stage sensation seen by more than 60 million people in 42 countries and in 21 languages around the globe and still breaking box-office records everywhere in its 27th year. Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Jackman plays ex-prisoner Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

Hugh Jackman will star as Jean Valjean with Russell Crowe as his antagonist Inspector Javert. Anne Hathaway will play Fantine alongside Tony Award winner Eddie Redmayne as Marius, Sacha Baron Cohen as Monsieur Thenardier and Helena Bonham Carter as wife, Aaron Tveit as Enjolras and Amanda Seyfried as Fantine's daughter Cosette
Tom Hooper, who won an Academy Award for last year's The King's Speech, is directing off a script penned by William Nicholson with music by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil. Experienced musicals show runner of stage and screen Cameron Mackintosh will produce with Working Title's Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Debra Hayward. Les Miserables is scheduled for theatrical release on December 7, 2012.
