DREDD takes us to the wild streets of Mega City One, the lone oasis of quasi-civilization on Cursed Earth. Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is the most feared of elite Street Judges, with the power to enforce the law, sentence offenders and execute them on the spot – if necessary. The endlessly inventive mind of writer Alex Garland and the frenetic vision of director Peter Travis bring DREDD to life as a futuristic neo-noir action film that returns the celebrated character to the dark, visceral incarnation from John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra’s revered comic strip.

Written by 2000 AD editor Matt Smith with the endorsement of Judge Dredd co-creator John Wagner and Dredd screenwriter Alex Garland. It will be illustrated by veteran Judge Dredd artist Henry Flint, with cover art by Greg Staples (pictured below).

This August sees the release of a "DREDD 3D" digital comic prequel to the film, which will feature the first comics appearance of Ma-Ma -- the villainous prison warden played in the movie by "Game of Thrones" star Lena Headey.

Dredd is directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point, Endgame) from a script by Alex Garland with John Wagner acting as creative consultant. It stars Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby, Lena Headey, Domhnall Gleeson, Langley Kirkwood, Francis Chouler and Deobia Oparei. The film is scheduled for worldwide 3D release on September 21, 2012.
