From Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures comes the sequel to the popular 2011 comic book based film starring Chris Hemsworth as the Asgardian God of Thunder, as well as Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston.

Thor: The Dark World is directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) based off a screenplay by Robert Rodat and Don Payne. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Jaimie Alexander, Zachery Levi and Ray Stevenson.

It has long been speculated, and recently let slip by a crew member, that the villains of the film will the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim. The two most famous elves from Marvel Comics mythology are Malekith the Accursed and Kurse, both longstanding villains of Thor.
Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) was originally cast as the film's central villain, but had to relinquish the part due to previous obligations. It's now been revealed that G.I Joe and Doctor Who alum Christopher Eccleston is taking up the role, which is confirmed to be Malekith The Accursed.
Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures have scheduled Thor: The Dark World for theatrical release November 8th, 2013.
