Back to the Future Part II is the second installment of the popular science fiction, action-comedy trilogy directed by Robert Zemeckis and starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Thomas F. Wilson and Lea Thompson.

The film follows teenage protagonist Marty McFly, who returns to 1985 after repairing the damage to history by making his parents-to-be fall in love in 1955. Now his friend Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown has him travel to 2015 to prevent his future son from getting involved with Biff Tannen's grandson Griff. However, Biff travels to 1955 and completely alters history. Marty and Doc are forced to travel back to 1955 to stop Biff so they can restore the original timeline and go home.
Aside from the DeLorean time machine, the most iconic prop to come from the Back to the Future trilogy is Marty McFly's Hoverboard. Mattel recently announced that they have developed the first collectible replica Hoverboard to be released in the later part of 2012.
The filmmakers had to utilize a vast array of practical effects and a bit of digital magic to create the illusion of the Hoverboard, a flying skateboard shown in the sequel that helped to mimic the escape scene from the first film. The film's Anniversary Edition Blu-ray release contained some behind-the-scenes footage detailing how the effects were conceptualized:
