HATEBREED Responds to CNN after Being Labeled a 'White Power' Band

CNN recently broke news about a shooting in Oak Creek, Wisconsin where the shooter had played in various hate group bands. During the story, CNN listed several 'white power' bands and mistakenly included hardcore metal group Hatebreed among them.

41-year-old shooter Wade Page was identified as 'a white supremacist skinhead' by CNN during the August 8th Sikh temple shooting in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Page had been a musician and played in some hate group inspired bands including 'End Apathy' and 'Definite Hate'. Author Lonnie Nasatir, director of the Anti-Defamation League's Upper Midwest Region, then went on to list several other white supremacist groups but included metal band Hatebreed among them. "CNN loses all respect ... now they slander us. We demand a retraction & an apology," tweeted Hatebreed.

"Our music brings people of all races together all over the world, @CNN need to get their facts straight. Writers like Lonnie Nasatir are the reason why the American media is looked at as a complete joke," tweeted Hatebreed.

Shortly after the article was posted on CNN, the news outlet removed Hatebreed from the story and posted an apology. "A previous version of this commentary incorrectly included the band Hatebreed in a list of white power bands. Hatebreed is a self-described 'hardcore metal' band. CNN regrets the error."
