Third BATMAN Movie Title Revealed; Riddler Not The Antagonist

Nolan has revealed the title for the next Batman film which is due out in 2012, he also confirms who won't be the villain of the story.

Finally some long awaited news has surfaced and been confirmed from Inception and the Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan about the next Batman film, which he says will be titled, The Dark Knight Rises.

Sadly, Nolan doesn't reveal who he's planning to have as the main villain(s) or much of what the story will be, but he does scratch one theory from fanboys' and fangirls' lists. “It won’t be the Riddler,” Nolan said in an exclusive interview with the Hero Complex.

“We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along, and we’ll be introducing some new ones." was the last bit he would reveal about the next film.

Nolan was more than happy to share that Warner Bros. has agreed that the film should stay away from the current 3-D craze and instead use high-definition approaches and IMAX cameras. The Times does promise a more in depth story will come where Nolan talks about his plan to stay away from 3D for the film and focus on other film techniques that can utilize the IMAX format.

Hmm... I figured that they wouldn't use "The Dark Knight" in the title again... interesting choice.

The Dark Knight Rises pun?

"We’ll use many of the same characters as we have all along"

Sounds like a possible return of Raz al Ghul or Scarecrow.

I just hope Catwoman isn't in it. That would kill it for me.

Weird. Some weird sequel titles going around.

I pray for the return of Ra's Al Ghul AND the Scarecrow too. Mr Green

Riddler is a pretty cool villain, but I am fine with Nolan's decision since there are other villains he can introduce more. I would love to see the return of some of the underused villains like Scarecrow.

Plus the addition of "rises" in the title made me think of a LAZ pit.

I really hope this means a return of Ra's Al Ghul. Just my two cents Laughing out loud

"The Dark Knight Rises"
Not as original as I had hoped. Everything else sounds really solid (plus this IS Nolan we're talking about)

Yeah, I though the title gave way to too many puns. I figured it to be "The Dark Knight Returns". He doesn't need to rise. Everyone knows he's influential on Gotham. Which makes me think that that isn't the title but a diversion.
I'm kind of glad that he's not going with Riddler. If Ra's Al Ghul is the villian, or his daughter, that could be a good way to fill the vacuum left by Rachel Dawes. Very few people outside of Alfred identify with Bruce. Some companionship from some oddfellows would add some interesting complicating conflict.

The Dark Knight Rises? What kind of [crap] is that? What part of him rises, his Batarang? Here Nolan, here's a few winners for ya

Batman Trois
Batman: Gadgets, no Detective
Batman and no Robin
Batman: Throat Polyp
Batman: Were Making Toys From This One
Batman: Don't Worry, He Doesn't Kill
Batman: And Shaggy and Scooby and the Harlem Globetrotters!
Batman: Guano
Batman: I signal what roof I'm gunna be standing on with a huge spotlight, snipers.

The Harlem Globetrotters should be the real villains of this next film. Start out as an ally and drop his pants when Batman's not looking. Classic! Big Grin
