Singer/actress/producer Jennifer Lopez is teaming up with Walden Media to create a feature film based on the popular character of children's games and books.
Carmen Sandiego is a media franchise of educational computer and video games, television programs and which center on a thieving villainess of the same name. The premise let the user (acting as the story's protagonist) become an agent of the ACME Detective Agency who attempts to thwart and capture V.I.L.E. ringleader and former ACME agent Carmen Sandiego. The franchise initially focused on teaching geography and history, though it later branched out into mathematics, English, and other subjects. Towards the final years of it's popularity it became an animated series and game show.
Jennifer Lopez (American Idol, Gigli) has entered into a partnership with Walden Media to adapt Carmen Sandiego into a live-action feature film. Lopez is eyeing the project as a starring vehicle, but at this point she is only acting in a producer's capacity. It's now been revealed that the company has signed Darren Lemke (Shrek Forever After) for script duties. The writer recently collaborated with director Bryan Singer on his upcoming, fantasy adventure Jack the Giant Killer which hits theaters next year. At this time there is no word when production on Carmen Sandiego may begin.
