Milo Ventimiglia will be returning to NBC to star in another superhero themed series, based off the Top Cow comic series, Rest which was co-created by the actor himself.
Ventimiglia will star as the main character John Barret and will executive produce the project along with Russ Cundiff, Milo's producing partner at Divide Pictures, Marc Silvestri and Matt Hawkins from Top Cow, the company who publish the Rest comics series, and Philip Levens, writer from Smallville. Levens, who will also serve as a writer for the series, is adapting the comic for NBC.
The story follows John Barret, a normal guy in his twenties and lives in New York City. Barret spends every waking hour working. He enrolls in a testing program for a drug that eliminates the need of sleep and soon becomes addicted to it, which helps him accomplish more but also leads to serious consequences.
Milo Ventimiglia last worked on NBC's Heroes, which was canceled after it's fourth season due to low ratings. The drama never seemed to recapture the ratings from it's first season, which brought in 14.5 million. Heroes only averaged 6.5 million viewers in it's fourth and final season and NBC decided not to renew the series for a fifth.
