Universal Issues Statement Regarding Kristen Stewart & SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN Sequel

After a full day of unconfirmed speculation, the studio has cleared up any misconception about the future of their newly launched Snow White franchise which also stars Chris Hemsworth.

A recent bout of conflicting reports have claimed that director Rupert Sanders was both expected to and has declined to return to the next film in the franchise, which will purportedly focus on Chris Hemsworth's Huntsman character. Other news outlets claimed that Kristen Stewart has been dropped from the project, and that the studio is still questioning whether to move forward with another installment at all.

Now, speculation can be put to rest as Universal Pictures have offered a definitive statement clearing up the rumors:

"We are extremely proud of Snow White and the Huntsman and we’re currently exploring all options to continue the franchise. Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false."

Snow White and the Huntsman Extended Edition is coming to Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, On Demand and Digital Download on September 11th, 2012, from Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

In the epic action-adventure Snow White and the Huntsman, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
