Arnold Schwarzenegger Eyeing Three Scripts for his Return to Film
After serving as Governor of California for the last six plus years, Schwarzenegger is looking to return to the big screen again. First task for him is picking the right script.
The bodybuilder turned actor turned politician was last seen in The Expendables in a brief cameo role. His name has been brought up to return for a sequel along with just about every other 80's and 90's action star being mentioned at some point. Freed of his governorship, Schwarzenegger is ready to get back into acting again and is looking over screenplays to see what works best.
"Currently I'm reading three scripts. One topic/script, which I considered a long time ago before governor, is delighting me particularly. In it I would play an older soldier, who gets the order at the ending of the war to kill a bunch of kids. But he doesn't do it and get them to safety at the risk of his life and it has all kind of adventure. This script is based on a true story!"
TheArnoldFans.com which translated an interview from the German site Krone.at are reporting the script he is referring to is With Wings As Eagles, based on the true life story about a German officer who does not agree with his surrounding Nazi party and instead helps the American POWs escape. No details have been released on what the other two scripts might be. Schwarzenegger, who wouldn't commit to any time frame for a return, realizes that his age is a factor in the equation and would like to model another actor turned politician when choosing roles.
"In the future I have to adapt my roles to my age. Clint Eastwood also has done it in the same way. Extreme fighting or shooting is not possible anymore. I want to be more encouraged as an actor and I believe that I can manage this challenge. I am like a sponge, which is absorbing all the knowledge and always be willing to learn all new things."
