Rachel Weisz Joins Jeremy Renner in THE BOURNE LEGACY

The Academy Award winning actress is in the final stages of negotiation to co-star with The Hurt Locker Oscar nominated actor in Tony Gilroy's upcoming Bourne film.

Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardner) is in "deep talks" to board the project according to Deadline, but she's also been circling a role in Sam Raimi's upcoming Oz: The Great and Powerful. It may be possible that she could take both jobs as Oz begins production this summer while The Bourne Legacy fires up in September.

Tony Gilroy -- who also wrote the screenplays for the first three Bourne films --will direct The Bourne Legacy. The fourth film will apparently not utilize any story elements from Eric Lustbader’s novel of the same name; rather it will continue the same time line from the first three films and serve to expand the franchise mythology by focusing on a character other than Jason Bourne.

Though details of the story are sparse, Jeremy Renner's role will supposedly be 'an operative from a covert government program that is even more dangerous than the Treadstone brainwashing program that hatched Bourne.' Universal Pictures is targeting an August 3rd, 2012 theatrical release for The Bourne Legacy.
