Theater Review: BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S

When I think of Tiffany & Co., I think of elegant jewelry in robin's egg blue boxes adorned with white bows. I think of Audrey Hepburn with a coffee in hand standing on 5th Avenue. And now -- by god -- I will always think of Emilia Clarke. Her breakout theatrical performance as the iconic Holly Golightly, a teenager masking her troubled past as the original high society party girl, is simply spectacular.

Movie Review: GANGSTER SQUAD

Gangster Squad suffers from sloppy writing where the characters look smart and sound smart but act moronic. The story starts off with blatant violence where mobster Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) chains a Chicago gangster to the bumper of two cars and pulls him apart. The varying scenes of violence are used to strike emotion in audience members and not for the purpose of the story, which makes the gravity of these moments practically fall short.

Movie Review: THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY

As a die-hard fan of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, I was prepared to defend The Hobbit against all criticism. The amount of love and passion I feel for this creative team would weigh more than any faults in writing, or the foreboding 48 frames per second that has had reviewers in an uproar. However, I can now state with sound judgment that The Hobbit fails to not only give a worthy film to general audiences but it also lets down the fandom of this rich and intelligent franchise.

Movie Review: RISE OF THE GUARDIANS

Every year studios try to bank on parents taking their children to see a holiday movie and this was DreamWorks’ answer. While Rise of the Guardians is a beautiful showcase of animator talent and the improving technology to create films, the movie fell very short of expectations.

Movie Review: THE ORANGES

The Oranges offers an honest, hilarious and crude look at life's surprises, and how to deal with the unexpected. The writing is solid: touching and truthful. It benefits from a unique story brought to life by the perfect casting of actors. A quiet film that may get looked over but not easily forgotten by those who have been charmed by it.
